DIY: LIP SCRUB

How to make your own lip scrub

In one of my recent posts on how to avoid dry skin in the winter, I talked about how important it is to carry a lip balm around with you and constantly top up. What I didn't tell you though was that there's another step I use to keep that dry skin at bay and that's to use a scrub to exfoliate your lips before applying a balm.
Whilst there are lots of lip scrubs on the market you can go out and buy (Lush do some pretty cool ones), they are also so quick and easy to make yourself with ingredients you probably already have in the cupboard. All you need to do is add equal parts of honey, olive oil and sugar and stir for a few minutes before transferring to a container. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

What I love about this recipe is that it's just the basic recipe and it's totally natural and tastes nice. But why not go one step further...

You can adapt the recipe to incorporate different flavours. I've added vanilla extract in the past which is my all time favourite but you can also try things like lemon juice, crushed banana or maybe even coffee granules (brain wave moment!)

You can also make these into really cute presents by adding food colour to the mix. Instead of using brown sugar, use white sugar and add a few drops of your desired colour and mix in well. Hey presto, easy Christmas present ideas (yes I did just say the C word!)

Happy experimenting!
