Theres nothing better than spending a Saturday morning strolling down the aisles of Boots looking out for alternatives to high end products. And theres something totally satisfying about it when you actually find one! I thought I'd put together a list of some of my latest finds...
My first dupe is the Maybelline Brow Satin in Dark Brown. This is a great alternative for the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Brown. Both pencils are long lasting and have incredibly fine nibs which allow you to be really precise, and the colours are a damn close match! The main difference between these two products lies in the fact that the Brow Wiz has an eyebrow spoolie on one end and the Brow Satin has a sponge and eye shadow which can be used to further define the brow. I'm personally not overly keen on this so for me the Anastasia Brow Wiz wins, but it was super close!
My favourite Essie nail varnish is one called Watermelon. I could wear this nail polish all day every day for the next 6 months if I wanted because the colour just goes with everything. But recently I've been reaching for Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in Pomegranate which gives the same high shine finish. It is a tad darker than it's alternative, but I hardly notice the difference.
Ahh the Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner. I remember this being one of the first high end products that I ever brought so it brings back a lot of memories for me! But recently I've been reaching for this Maybelline Gel Eyeliner alternative. Both give a rich black finish that lasts all day without smudging and at half the price I'll definitely be repurchasing.
Ok so this one is definitely not a colour match dupe, but the formulas are pretty darn similar. I remember picking up this YSL Glossy Lip Stain in duty free a couple of years ago on Fleur De Forces recommendation. I really loved it, and its perfect to wear on date night when you don't want your lip colour to come off during your food! But I recently found the Loreal GlamShine Stain Splash range and they reminded me so much of the YSL version. Neither are drying like I've found some lip stains can be and this is probably due to the fact that they are both marketed as a cross between a stain and a gloss. Both are long lasting as a stain should be and both have a similar shaped applicator which makes application a doddle.
Last but by no means least are these two mascaras. The Benefit Roller Lash was highly anticipated after the success of its They're Real sister and it didn't disappoint with the fluttery lashes it produces. However around the same time Maybelline released the Lash Sensational and the results are pretty much the same. Both products have rubber wands which are curved meaning that even the littlest of lashes are captured. However, the Roller Lash wand is slightly smaller making it easier to use on lower lashes but other than this I can see little difference!
If you have any other drug store alternatives, I'd love to hear about them!
