The jury is still out on the hair scrunch but I personally love them and like it or not, they are all over the high street! I decided to give it a go at making one myself and I must say I was pretty darn happy with the results. So if you want to rock a power ponytail or cool top knot try this quick and easy DIY a whirl.
You will need
60 x 14cm Piece of Fabric
30cm of Slim Elastic
Needle and Thread
- Place your piece of fabric wrong side down. With the wrong sides facing each other, fold 1cm over on both sides of the short fabric and press them both flat. Then fold the piece of fabric in half lengthways with the right sides facing each other. Press this and then pin in place.
- Sew along the long edge of the fabric leaving a 1cm seam allowance, don't forget to backstitch on either end to keep it strong. Turn the piece of fabric inside out and you should now have a nice neat tube.
- Tie your piece of elastic to your knitting needle and then push it through the tube of fabric and grad both ends. Decide how long you want the elastic to be (you can use an old hair band for this) and then tie it in place using a couple of double knots.
- Overlap the ends of the tube and use a needle and thread to slip stitch the two layers of fabric together. Voila!
