Underwear as outerwear?

THE TREND

It all started off back in the 80s when Madonna wore 'that' cone bra and a skin tight girdle. At that time it was very daring to dress in such a way, and she has certainly been remembered for it. However in this day and age it is not so controversial. Like it or not the trend of wearing your underwear as outerwear has been around for a while and will continue to stay with the likes of Rihanna and Lady Gaga making it the norm to do so.

You have to be a little daring and confident to wear this trend, but at the same time remember that it you are trying to look sexy and not vulgar. Nobody likes that girl who gets her bobs and bum out on a night out!

HOW TO WEAR IT

You don't have to actually go out in your underwear to wear this trend, sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference. Pick items items that are edged in lace or have that corset/bra looking feel like the dress from ASOS below.

Feeling to exposed? You don't have to go the whole hog a feel totally naked. Team a dress with a cardigan or a blazer to make you feel more relaxed and comfortable in what your wearing.

Try to avoid sheer fabrics, coverage is the key to this trend so opt for silks and satins that give you a more elegant look in the daytime and a more glam look in the evening.

It's not just the 'sexy' underwear thats in. Rihanna went as far as to wear a silk blouse and trousers on the red carpet at the premiere of her film Battleship. Now I'm not quite saying take it as far as her but pairing a blouse like the one from ASOS below with some denim shorts is a really cute way of wearing the trend.

Working It

Top: Zara | Trousers: ASOS | Shoes: Kurt Geiger | Handbag: Dune | Watch: Michael Kors

I struggle with what to wear for work in the mornings. Everyday I have the same dilemma... shall I wear this? Is this to dressy? Is this practical? The problem is my office is very laid back and casual. When I started my job I was so excited to go shopping for new workwear clothes. I was thinking cute pencil skits, blazers and suits. But I was disappointed when I got there. But some days I just say stuff it, I put on my favourite shirt and heels and play dress up for the day. I think it puts you in a better frame of mind to work if your dressed right, don't you think? Well thats my excuse anyway...

DIY Tinted Moisturiser

Now don't get me wrong, I love summer as much as the next person. I would pick summer over winter any day of the week. But my skin isn't such a fan of it. Having really dry skin already, in the summer months my skin just dries out even more and my foundation looks terrible. I started using Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser and I fell in love. It glided over my skin and gave me the perfect coverage despite only being a tinted moisturiser. But I didn't fall in love with the price tag, at £33 a pop it's hardly purse friendly and will something I ask for at Christmas and birthdays rather than a everyday item.

But I think I've found the solution. It almost seems silly talking about this as it seems so obvious but about a week ago I was playing with my make-up as you do and I suddenly thought why don't I mix my moisturiser in with my foundation. One pump of each, mix together and hey presto you've got yourself a DIY tinted moisturiser that works just as well! The results are excellent, but make sure you use a moisturiser that is the same consistency as your foundation as I've found using a thicker moisturiser makes it clumpy.

I'm really chuffed with the results and its become my go to skin base since the weather has heated up in the UK.

There's nothing quite like Poppies on a sunny day

Dress: Primark | Shoes: Primark | Bag: Michael Kors | Ring: Oasis | Sunglasses: Vintage

I tell you what, I have never had so many compliments on a dress in my life. When wearing this baby to work a few weeks ago I had 9, yes you did hear my right, 9 people say how summery I looked. This Primark number was a bargain £15 from Asos and I am literally in love. It is so easy to through on and is becoming my go to outfit. It's just a shame the weather has just changed and I will probably not get to wear it for another year!
